Beginning in July 2010 a severe flood, affecting 20,000,000 people in Pakistan, submerged 1.9 million homes and 9 million acres of croplands. The waters devastated the regional infrastructure. Those people discriminated against by gender, class, religion, nationality and geography are at increased risk.
The UUSC and UUA teamed up to form a joint Pakistan Flood Relief Fund. UUSC’s partner, Barakat, is helping resettle Afghan refugee families living in Pakistan. Another partner, Bedari, is organizing mobile health clinics where women and children can receive medical care and support.
