In July and August the Sunday offerings will be donated to the Pink Polka Dots Guild. The Pink Polka Dots Guild was started in 2006 when students in Lake Forest Park lost a classmate, Sydney, to a brain tumor at the age of 11.
Money raised goes to Children's Hospital in Seattle for pediatric brain tumor research. The three founding members were 11 and 12 years old and in Grade 6. They now have 40 members. They call themselves "The Pink Polka Dots Guild" because the color pink and polka dots were Sydney's favorite things.
This group raises money by selling cards, jewelry, and other crafts at Farmers’ Markets and at
Children’s Hospital. They hold special events, like a middle school dance, and sponsor lemonade
stands. Each September they join with Sydney’s family to hold an annual golf tournament
fundraiser.
In the past four years, they have raised over $250,000 for research.
Fill out a nomination form and place it in the Sunday Offerings mailbox.
