Sunday Offerings

Rosehedge

November 2008 recipient

All of the Sunday offerings in November will go to Rosehedge which provides 24-hour care and housing to vulnerable men and women living with AIDS who can no longer manage on their own.

Since 1988, Rosehedge has responded to the needs of those with HIV/AIDS with compassionate, cost-effective health care and supportive services. Since the mid-1990’s and the availability of more effective medications to treat HIV/AIDS, the mission of Rosehedge has evolved to that of assisting those with AIDS in need of help to get on or stay on medication and/or cope with additional other conditions.

In 1993, Rosehedge began managing the six-bed group home (Mark DeWolfe House) owned by the University Unitarian Church. This addition raised the total to three the group homes run by Rosehedge that make up their Assisted Living Program. Mark M. DeWolfe, for whom the house was named, was a young, openly gay Unitarian Universalist minister who died of AIDS in 1988.

Our donations will support direct services to the residents of Rosehedge by helping to bridge the gap between the cost of daily care ($238 per person) and Medicaid reimbursement ($160 per person). Our donations will provide Rosehedge residents with 24-hour care, medication, nutritious meals and safe, comfortable housing. Let us give generously.

Volunteers play a vital role in this program. Three hours a week for six months is the commitment.  Contact Rosehedge if you would like to volunteer.
