Youth: Grades 9 - 12

Sunday morning meetings

On Sundays the Youth Group meets in the Loft from 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. They begin by lighting their chalice and checking-in with each other and their advisors. Most of the time is dedicated to discussing interesting topics and planning upcoming events: fundraisers for charity, fun get-togethers, worship services, or social justice projects. As they work and socialize together, the youth strengthen their friendships and further their spiritual development.

Spirituality

The youth join together to practice their faith in many creative ways. These teenagers pursue their individual religious paths while respectfully supporting each other's quest for the truth. They apply their initiative and creativity to plan many of their own activities.

Socializing

Our teenagers have many social events throughout the year, including the Seabeck church retreat and overnights at the church. They also connect with one another as they help plan, carry out, or attend a variety of meetings: Youth Group, Our Whole Lives course, social justice activities, district conferences, and youth music. Check out the Youth Calendar for details.

Relay for Life - Raising money for cancer research
Relay for Life

Serving the community: Relay for Life

In the spring the youth often participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life fundraiser. Other social justice activities are initiated through the interests of the youth.

Pacific Northwest Conferences

Getting to know other teens from Oregon, Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Alaska is fun for our youth. Each year some youth attend one of the many district youth conferences. The teens grow spiritually, promote social justice, and simply have fun at these meetings.

United Nations Seminar on Peace

In the spring of 2008 six youth and one adult attended the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office (UNO) Spring Seminar in New York City. The youth participated in discussions about peace with adults attending the seminar. Learn more about their experiences.
