Mystery Friends

Schedule for 2012

 

  • January 8 — registration begins
  • January 22 to February 12 — exchange tokens of friendship
  • February 19 at 10:15 a.m. — potluck brunch where mystery friends are revealed

Registration

Register by either submitting the Registration form or sending an email.

Download the Mystery Friends Registration Form and return it to the LRE table in the Narthex by January 9.

Registration by email

Send an email with the following information:

  • name
  • age group: child, teenager, or adult
  • age, if the registration is for a child recipient
  • email address for the giver
  • phone numbers – home and cell please
  • interests and hobbies
  • interesting facts about yourself: this could include allergies, gender preferences for your mystery friend, and any weeks you will be gone

Making friends across the generations

Adults and teenagers become mystery friends with children for five weeks in January and February. Each child is paired with an adult or teen, and they receive limited information about the other. They might learn their friend's hobbies, gender, and the child's age.

For four weeks the mystery friends exchange notes, small handmade items, candy, and thoughtful tokens of friendship. On the fifth Sunday the mystery friends are revealed at a celebration and potluck brunch between services.
