Each year the staff, committees, and groups who are responsible for the tasks listed here tweak their programs, and consequently, the dates for each task can change. Watch The CommUUnicator and This Week at EUUC for actual dates and further details. This timeline is meant as an approximate calendar of dates for committee chairs. Some of the items are tasks for committee chairs and leaders, and some items identify events that might need to be considered when forming plans.
After your committee meetings, save your minutes using the file naming convention and send them to the Administrator.
On the first of each month committee chairs submit a report to the Board telling them about major decisions, plans, and activities. This report also includes any requests for the Board.
Occasionally we have receptions to celebrate new members or other occasions. On those Sundays the Narthex has tables of food and is crowded between services.
Several times a year the Music Committee hosts a concert. The concert series draw dozens of people from the outside community. To reach these visitors with news of your activities, you might put a poster on the EUUC Events bulletin board.
Our church year runs from July 1 through June 30.
Committee Chairs, interest group leaders, and the Board President submit annual reports telling the congregation and Board about their major accomplishments and projects during the prior church year and introducing their plans for the current year. Over the summer these reports are merged to form the EUUC Annual Report which is published in September.
In August many people visit churches in seeking a spiritual home for their families. Meet the visitors—some of them might someday be interested in contributing to your committee’s work.
The weekend following Labor Day is our Ingathering service and the beginning of our regular schedule with two services each Sunday.
Near the end of September many members and friends spend the weekend at Seabeck for our annual church retreat.
The office staff completes and publishes the EUUC Annual Report.

Committees begin planning their budgets for the next fiscal year.
Usually, on the last weekend in October nearly everything in the church, except for what is in the Friarplace and the offices is moved into storage for the Art Show. If your committee has posters, displays, or anything else in the affected areas, you should pack up your things and label the box with the room number. This helps the Art Show crew bring the box back to where it belongs after the show.
The first weekend in November is the Northwest Artists’ Holiday Show, which we usually call the Art Show. There is no church service that Sunday. During the week prior to the Art Show, all the furniture will be gone from all meeting rooms, except the Friarplace. If your meeting is scheduled for that week, meet offsite or reschedule.
For three weeks, usually beginning at the end of November, the Fair Trade Market fills much of the Narthex in even numbered years.
Groups and committees are asked to prepare budget requests for the following July-June fiscal year.
Usually, there is just one service on this Sunday, and it has low attendance.

On Pledge Sunday our Canvass Committee asks members to pledge for the next church-year. You might not be able to hold a special fundraiser close to Pledge Sunday, including the four weeks following that day.
The Sunday nearest Valentine's Day is Chocolate Sunday held in the Narthex after both services. This is not a good week to have a special table with information about committee programs.
This annual concert brings in dozens of people from the outside community. You might consider whether you want to change your table display or posters in the Narthex.
One of our largest sources of funding is from the Auction usually held around the middle of the month.
The Endowment Committee asks committee chairs and members to apply for grants. Read the Endowments policy to learn about the various funds.
The Administrator will ask you to request meeting space for your committee or interest group meetings from September through August.
During the last three weeks of April, the Library fills the Narthex with tables of used books for people to purchase. You probably will not be able to have a table for a special display.
The first Friday and Saturday in May is the rummage sale. If you have items in the areas used by the sale, you need to pack them up on the Sunday before. Committee items have been sold by accident.
Near the end of the month is the Annual Congregational Meeting at which the congregation usually votes to approve the budget for the next year and to elect new Board members, Nominating Committee members, and Canvass Committee members.
The Board hosts a potluck for new EUUC members.
Our summer schedule with only one Sunday service usually runs from mid-May through Labor Day.
Many families and members miss church on Sunday, because they are on holiday.
The church year ends on June 30.
