Taking a Stand - Potential New Bylaw

Proposal (PDF)

Proposed bylaw (PDF)

Flowchart (PDF)

What is this new bylaw about?

Where do you stand on torture, war, or capital punishment? Should our congregation raise its banner high to let the world know how we feel about these or other major moral issues? The Taking a Stand Task Force developed a potential bylaw and policy that outline how the congregation would be able to take a stand on a social justice issue.

Giving us feedback

The Taking a Stand Task Force invites members to attend a meeting or stop by an informational table to learn about the proposed new bylaw and policy. Several opportunities have been scheduled in hopes that everyone who is interested will be able to participate. Sandwiches will be served at the noon meetings, and pizza will be served at the evening meeting. Childcare will be offered at the noon and evening meetings.

  • March 14 and 21 between services at a table in the Narthex
  • March 21 at noon and 6 p.m.
  • March 28 at noon

If you care about this issue, please attend one of these gatherings because there will be limited time for discussion at the Congregational Meeting.

Adopting the bylaw

At the Congregational Meeting in April members of EUUC will vote on a potential change to our Bylaws that would make it possible for the church as a whole to take a stand on issues of social justice.
