About the Weekly Announcements

We have three venues for publishing announcements

  • The electronic version is This Week at EUUC, which is posted on the website and emailed to nearly all of the members every Thursday.
  • The printed version, the Sunday Update, is handed out in the Order of Service each Sunday.
  • The announcements for the upcoming three months are on the Current News and Events page.

Goals of the weekly announcements

  • to save trees and money by limiting the length of the Sunday Update
  • to assist the Board and staff in their work by repeating announcements and flexing deadlines as needed
  • to help church leaders and staff share information with the congregation
  • to keep people informed about EUUC life
  • to notify people of changes in scheduled events
  • to represent the interests of everyone in the EUUC community: staff, board members, church leaders, and laity

How to spread the word through announcements

  • If you have an announcement on several topics, you can divide your message into two announcements: one on each topic and
    • submit them separately on two consecutive weeks
    • submit them in the same week (pending available space)
  • You can submit an announcement well before an event to ask people to register or volunteer. Then, just before the event, submit another announcement reminding people to attend.
  • Announcements must be submitted by the deadline stated on the Submit an Announcement form.

Guidelines for Repeating Articles in our Various Publications

These guidelines vary with each form of communication. Please note the differences:

This Week at EUUC (the electronic version)

An announcement can only run once. The goal is to keep this email bulletin as fresh and interesting as possible. Readers tend to skip over articles they think they have already read in a previous week.

The Sunday Update (the printed version)

The announcement usually runs once. If you want your announcement to repeat, please tell the Announcements Editors in the space provided on the form. The Editors will publish your announcement up to three times if space is available. The Editors strive to help you get the word out. They work incredibly hard in keeping everyone informed. Please trust that they are doing everything possible to accommodate your request. At times they can include a repeated announcement by shortening your message to the essential details. Please respect their decision on whether there is space for repeating your announcement.
