Sam Spencer — Photographer
Sam Spencer graduated from the University of Rochester in 1975 where he minored in photography and has failed to graduate from the Everett Community College where he has gone back to school for more photographic classes. He seems intent on staying a student forever.
Sam has been spending the last few years traveling with his wife to all those places they have wanted to go to since they were married. He takes photographs, and she takes photographs of him taking photographs.
Sam works with digital photography but does not alter images except for basic color correction (the above portrait obviously an exception). His style is “modernist” in the tradition of Paul Strand and his key color is brown and key composition is the diagonal.
Sam joined the Gallery North in March, fulfilling a long time goal of going into retail. If he can steer clear of the Starbucks next door, he may actually make a profit.
