Online Survey of Beliefs

Who participated in the survey?

In April 2008 the Web Committee put an online survey on the website. One of the questions asked respondents about their religious beliefs. The 21 people who completed the survey fell into two groups: visitors and members/friends. The 7 visitors were people who said they had found us from a search engine, from a link on the Unitarian Universalist Association website, or from being familiar with our church. The 14 members and friends categorized themselves as being a member, friend, or newsletter recipient.

Results

Many belief categories have different meanings for different people. The survey did not define any terms, so this data reflects how people label themselves. People were given a list of beliefs, such as “Christian” and “Buddhist”, and they could select as many as they desired. Respondents also could write in additional faith categories. Here is a table of the results.
